1921 (Photo) Kent After Completing Race
Personal photo with view to west looking down Main Street between 5th and 6th streets of musher who appears to have completed race. The new and modern electric pedestal clock at left gives us the time of 3:40 PM. Mushers started at different times and raced against the clock. Subject can be identified as Tud Kent by his dress, receding hairline, and his team of English Setters. The dog team has stopped and is out of order and Kent's lead dog is not in front but careful study reveals that this is Kent's team of English Setters. This photo was taken and preserved by Lida Phillips of Ashton and is one in a group of six photos that can all be dated to 1921 by being compared to other dated photos. Kent won in 1921 before a crowd estimated at 6,000.
